SGMA/GSA

The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) is a landmark legislation in California aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of the state's groundwater resources. Under SGMA, local agencies known as Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSA) have been established to manage groundwater basins and develop sustainable groundwater management plans. These plans are crucial for safeguarding water supplies, reducing overdraft, and preserving the quality of groundwater for future generations. The KCFB is committed to working collaboratively with GSAs and stakeholders to implement SGMA effectively and sustainably manage groundwater resources in our region.
