Position Title: Communications Director
Accountability: Reports to the Executive Director. All outgoing communication and correspondence must be approved by the Executive Director.
Hours: Part-time: 20-25 hours/week
General Scope of Work:
In cooperation with the Executive Director, the Communications Director will be responsible for the research and collection, organization and distribution of assigned news and communications for Kings County Farm Bureau. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of the local and state agricultural industry, as well as Farm Bureau objectives, structure and programs. A four-year college degree or sufficient work experience in journalism, communications or public relations is preferred.
Skills/Knowledge preferred:
Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint
Familiarity with social media tools such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Blogs
Well-organized with detailed records management
Excellent verbal and written communication, including strong command of grammar and spelling; knowledge of journalistic writing and AP style
Telephone and electronic communication etiquette
Basic knowledge of California agriculture and current issues affecting Kings County
Able to multi-task, managing multiple projects and programs simultaneously
